Kappenabzeichen were normally stamped, not solid. That said, I cannot find another example to take a look at the reverse. I have seen this before, but I can't remember what the back looked like. The pin on this one looks to be of the period. Most of the solid (cast) ones I have seen are poorly finished on the back with all kinds of strange pins. This one is most likely good. Wish I could be more definitive.
