    German shovel M1898 short handle

    Hello,
I found this new piece for my little collection of German E-tool of the first ww. On an exchange I got a shovel Model 1898 equipped with a short handle and a shovel carrier that looks a copy to me of a model unknown to the battalion but nicely made ,-)).
The shovel has a slightly different design of manufacturing than conventional ones. If anyone has any information .. Wellcome. A +

    Hello,

I believe the whole thing (except for the shovel head) is a reproduction. Shovels for the MG Abteilungen were not the normal entrenching tool width and I have never seen a real one with the riveted-back ears. Here is what a true MG shovel should look like.

Hello, maybe.. not sure, the design is quiet different, maybe some ersatz model?? I doubted myself too and i got it for cheap. I paint the spade it was rusty and the shovel carrier smells like hell cigarettes smoke. It's a big job just to short an handle and make it fit.. So let see. Cu Chip M
