          Hi Eddie,
          I can't help much with authenticity but it is a very nice looking piece.

                Looks nice. I can only philosophize on authenticity, as it is the first I have seen;
                Is it gold? It looks more like gilded as there is patina on it. Or is it dirt?
                You can probably find out somewhere if it should be gold.

                  Hi Michael,it is in Silver as it should be for second class,looks like its gold plated and some gold already faded.

                    Have you compared it with the one for auction from Herman Historica? On my cell phone it compares quite well. Now- are they both 60's fakes?
                    This is the problem for me collecting. Once you move up to buying higher end items it becomes much harder to compare the characteristics of original items as in many cases there are so few around. We can all compare our KO EK2's but who has one of these neck orders to look at. It is a very tricky subject with sometimes considerable amounts of money "gambled".

                      here is picture from HH auction they are exactly sane in details and like you said HH example could be also old copy,only 24 of the 2nd class with swords was awarded and only 7 with oakleaves and swords 2nd class,very small chance this to be actual award.

                        IMHO if the one on HH auction would be a real deal the opening bid would be way over 25-30k euro.

                          So, how do we go forward trying to collect such pieces? I think that factor alone keeps the prices a bit lower. Find one or two known good awarded pieces and publish some high quality photos with weights and measurements and the whole game changes. Most accepted pieces will be shown to be modern and their owners will be very unhappy while a very few will attaine the true value of a real award. At least until the next book comes out or a forum comes up with another awarded piece that is different. All a little disconcerting for me.

                            Someone put down a $2600 bet on this one. Was it you Eddie? No returns accepted so I hope an expert bought it!
