    "Balloon" flight badges

    Does anyone know the real story behind these badges? I've seen these pop up in the past couple of years, but I haven't been involved with aviation badges in a while.

    And the reverse of the same badges. The Bavarian has a Pollath mark and the Prussian a Junckers mark.

            I believe Rick (stogieman) is referring to Pieces of History shop. Not sure if they have a website but they do sell on ebay.

              Personally, I would love to get one, I think they are great! But I would prefer it be in the $60 to $70 range.

              Please note the one stamped Pollath has the exact same flaw on the top right in the indent for the hinge as do many flight badges I do not care for, and they are found with both "Karl Pöllath" or "Carl Poellath", but they have the same flaw.

                I don't know what they are either. I picked one up in the ninties but paid more than seventy bucks. I thought at the time the Juncker mark was great and I was surprised at the quality, so I bought it. I am still confused as to whether they are inbetween war manufacturer, or post WWII...

                  These are bogus fantasy fakes. There is no evidence-documentary, photographic, ANYWHERE of these being awarded-even by vets' associations. They are interesting only in that they give significant clues as to other restrike badges currently on the market.

                          Kind of interesting that they use the Austrian collar device for aero troops as the centerpiece of this supposedly German badge.
