    Request for Assistance With Document

    Gentlemen;

    What do we have here? Any help is very much appreciated.

    This is a folding portfolio style document, measuring 13 inches x 8.25 inches. We cannot read the German hand written script.

    Best regards to everyone,

    Clay

      It purports to be a document awarding the Black Eagle Order but I have serious doubts about its authenticity.

        Here is an example of the handwritten (lines 2 and 3) text as it should look, the seal, and the signature.

          I believe this is an original blank document that has been filled in with spurious details. The Wilhelm signature is a poor attempt, the calligraphy is messy and amateurish, the wax seal is bogus and above all, it's highly unlikely that a lowly Kapitän zur See, unless of royal birth would receive the Order of the Black Eagle.

            Yes, the signature was "drawn".

              besides,,,, very good fakes on the marked .

              I have also found medal documents ,,

              in period ( 1880 /1900 ) medal books ,,,smaller reprints as example of how an document looks .

              they to,,,, can be mistaken as original ....or used .

              my opinion ,,,a document specialist from a museum has to look at it .
              just posting it on a forum is not sufficient enough ,,in my opinion .

              here is one example of a book copy,,,,,,,,,, but fore a different medal .....5.9 inch to 8.18 inch

              regards kay

                      The handwritten text (handwriting) is very poor. A secretary close to the Emperor should have had a much better handwriting and the signature of Wilhelm II is also very poor.

                        Thats because it isn't the signature of Wilhelm II ....
