    1870 Prinzen

Just received this 1870 Prinzen 2nd Class Iron Cross. Size 33 x33 mm.
There is some rust on it, should I clean it or leave it as it is. Thank You.
    Any comments are welcome.
    Alf.

Opinions differ but if it were mine I would remove it with gun oil and a small brush.
    Best regards,
    Streptile

Looking for ROUND BUTTON 1939 EK1 Spange cases (LDO or PKZ)

Thank You Streptile, I think at least it will stop the rust from further develop.

                Wonderful cross!

About the rust, I'd suggest some caution. Maybe you can just remove it gently with toothbrush/toothpick. If the cross is stored in dry enough environment, the rust will not spread. But in wet conditions, it will continue to rust. Check the conservation forum for details about rust prevention /removal before you go head over heels with such nice and rare gem.
