I payed 45€ for it and 4 ribbon bars (3 ww2 / 1 1957) - im courius whats the medal worth as i hope i dont overpaid the whole lot.

What do the two crowns on the medal signify? King and Queen or other?

The "W" is for Wilhelm, King of Prussia (later Kaiser) the "FJ" is for Franz Joseph, Kaiser of Austro-Hungary. They were allies in 1864 against Denmark. Value IMO is around $60-65 US.

A fine medal, with its originl ribbon.

Now, with time you could find for your father the "sister", in other words, the Denmark medal for Austrian troops: it's identical to the Prussian one, but Emperor Franz Joseph's crowned monogram is in the first place. Same ribbon, but broader (4,0 cm.) and mounted in the typical, triangular form.

              Best wishes,

              Enzo (E.L.)

                Thanks Enzo!

I already take a look on one - but i maybe wait till i found a cheaper one.

Nice original example - and with period ribbon, which is much harder to find than medal itself (the fiber has much shorter lifespan than bronze). Austrian sisters are harder to find and a bit more expensive, but they do come around.
