    Bavarian MVK1

    Fellow Collectors,

One of my New Year's resolutions is to fill out some of my incomplete sets of imperial medals. One of these medals is the Bavarian MVK1. Here are some pictures of one I found on the net. It is supposed to be gilded bronze with an enameled center. I personally like it but would like to get a few additional opinions.

    Thanks.

    Hi Carl,

I believe your MVK was made by Jacob Leser (T form in the tongue of the buckle is one of his trademarks).

The Medallion at the back looks like a Type B. I have doubts for the Medallion at the front, maybe a W2 Type?

    Best Regards

    Antonio

        Hallo Carl,

Sorry, I made a mistake not providing you with more information.

As you can see, in general, the MVK hast 2 Medallions; the front one (L) and the back one (Lion).

For what I have read, Jacob Leser produced at least, 2 different back Medallions (Type a and Type a) and 6 different front ones (Types W1, W2, Y1, Y2, Z1 and Z2), that is why I said about the type W2.

As source for this piece of information, I have just used the great article written by Werner Bergmann in the Magazine Orden und Ehrenzeichen, 15th Year, Number 85, page 135.

        Best Regards

        Antonio
