    Nice ek2

    Hi All,

here is a nice ek2, with an early cast core! Fat W and I think based on the 1870 A type.
    Enjoy!

    Kind regards,
    Michel

Very nice cross on a single parade mount
I see that the cross is mounted otherwise!

                Hi Alf,

there are 1914 crosses which used a 1870 mold (either the A or the B 1870 core) and replaced the 1870 with 1914.

                An very clear and somewhat different version of the type a is shown here;

                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...1914+1870+type

The B-type is shown in Trevors thread:

                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...1914+1870+type

When looking at the reverse of the Fat W (which this cross is) see also here

                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...1914+1870+type

I think it matches the 1870 type A. See the attached pics. You can also see how crude the 1914 version is in comparison to the 1870 version.

IMO this is an early ww1 cross based on the 1870 type A.

Thank You Morel for a very informative and pictorial explanation.

                    Alf.

As already mentioned in previous threads this 1914 cross also has a frame found on the Wagner 1870 ek's:
