    Two different EK I cases

I have two different EK I cases (1 & 2) and would like to know more about them. The reason is that I canĀ“t find much about number 2.

    1. EK I Fr. Sedlatzek
    2. EK I Wagner & Son (WS)

Maybe someone can give me some more information about the cases, the differences or the time period?

All I can tell you is that the case on the left is made from leather, or at least appears to be leather. I think these are early cases. On the right is a later version made from a plastic like material. Bakalite? I think this one is made to look like the first one but a cheaper method. I do not know if any maker is associated with either case. Both are original.

Rather than bakalite I would say it some form of leatheret(imitation leather) is my opinion. I could be wrong... I have been many times in the past

        Thanks Rich G and przwest

I know that number 1 is made out of leather, made by Berliner Firma H. F. Schwartz. This firm was the only one (monopoly) who made this type of red/brown cases until 1916. ( German literature).

Number 2 i.m.o a sort of paper or cardboard. Maybe is number 2 indeed a cheaper version and that also explanes the iron button?

No, you are right, it's not bakalite. I just got mine out and it is more like a stiff card with a simulated leather effect.
