Today I saw a member sharing two DOV crosses in the forum and they were stunning examples of a not so often seen EK. By chance I posted how I wished those kind appear more often on estand. The next moment I checked, this seldom seen cross was actually there,

And other interesting pieces and Spange have been lately been offered as well. Great for those members who seek to move out their collection and for fellow members who keep seeking outside the well known dealers and auctions, among trusted members.

I endorse the idea of having an Estand Highlights section to track past offerings once sold. Dealers sites called them Archive sometimes and in few cases they even charge for having the privilege of browsing them. I would make this section available to Associate Members and maybe have moderators decide which offerings shall be shared.

My two cents here gents. Cheers, Alex

I will attach the pictures of the DOV for sale here, as they will otherwise get lost in time!

What would a new section do that the regular section does not already do? We have a section for the study of every type of EK. Any item can be shown and discussed. How would this pinned thread differed? Who would determine what items were put there? Would it be open for comments or closed and just for looking?

I just don't see what difference it will make.

                  Please enlighten me.

Slightly off topic. But, there really needs to be a separate EK forum like they have on GMIC. I like Iron Crosses as much as the next guy. But, postings and discussions on them (often the same types of postings and the same discussions, ad nauseam) clutter up the Imperial Forum. You seldom see anything else. Are there really so few Imperial German orders and decorations collectors on WAF, that we're stuck with the EK fanboys dominating things? Personally, I find it gets rather boring and redundant after awhile.

From my point of view, these are the benefits

                        1. Regular section is the Estand, people offer and buy. Archive or Highlights Section is a postmortem record. Members are able to track past sales, see the items and their price to a given date. Nowadays item are no more available after sale.

                        2. The study sections that exist today are great for eks. But here we are talking about an archive for every kind of item sold, not only eks and with a different purpose.

                        3. A moderator can determine once the offering on estand is sold, if the item in question is relevant enough to be present in the Highlights section or else have every item sold present in an Archive section (which today might exist as a hidden folder to the webmaster)

                        4. No need to be opened for comments. A section reserved just for Associate Members to consult, to search for past offerings and prices , to scroll previous ownerships.

My opinion, if you think something that is for sale on e-stand is worthy of being put into this new thread/section, start a discussion thread on it. It will be available to everyone from them on.
Besides, we have a search function, try searching DOV, you will be amazed what shows up.
                          Ralph.

                            I agree with Ralph.
I am also not in favor of having a special forum just for Eks. The way that GMIC is all split apart
is one of the reasons I very seldom use that site.

GMIC is far more informative and scholarly than WAF, IMHO. Each site has it's own merits. But, comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges, really. WAF, at least in the Imperial and Weimar forums seems to be filled with newbies asking "What is this? What is it worth?" Of course it's good having new collectors asking questions as at least it keeps the hobby going. But, personally, I find the incessant questions about EKs redundant and boring. But, I'm sure I'm a minority of One in this regard.
