I would be interested in seeing the original statute for the award.
      Hi Chris!
      "Thy wish shall be granted!"
Some of the rumours concerning the pre-conditions for this award are proven wrong, if you read the (pretty short) statute!
      - you didn´t have to be hessian by birth - the citizenship prior to August 1st 1914 would do
      - it states: "bravery" and "good conduct", but does not specify as to the possession of any award appreciating these characteristics, f.e. Iron Cross oder Valor medal! (But being a frontline soldier for more than 2 years, most survivors might have earned the honours as time went by - "The only way to avoid the IronCross 2nd class is to commit suicide...")
      - But: Yes! You had to be wounded at least once (This why it was called "bloody Ludwig" )
      - you had to serve in a front-unit ("under fire") for two years, minus time spent at home or at hospital (if exceeding the length of 2 month)
      - no exceptions were allowed!

      Regards
      Hagrid

        Hi Hagrid,

Muchos Grazias, it wont be the first time that a detail is missing from a Militärpass, especially if a light wound.

        All the best
        Chris

Wait until you see all the pictures of people wearing this award

I don´t want to rob them from another forum just to pimp this thread - but a link would do:
            http://gmic.co.uk/topic/64342-kriegs...-eisen/?page=1

Note that some are not wearing a wound badge!

            regards

I posted and tried to translate the statute 8 weeks ago, but nobody cares.....

              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=826168&page=2

Hagrid is right, there are a lot of rumours out about this badge.
The wound badge discussion was also there 8 weeks ago, also the discussion about the link with the IC.
Is my english so bad that nobody understand it?

So my thoughts to the Wound Badge again:

There only is written: "one or more times wounded". Nothing about the Wound Badge. So the Question is: Must every single wounding lead to the Wound Badge?
              Edit:

I don´t want to rob them from another forum
              Hahaha Good Joke!
One photo is robed from ebay. I know it because i bought it there. And thats the photo from the auction, same "Resopal Platte" under the photo.
I don´t think that all the other photos were posted by the real owners.......

ODW, thank you for the information your English is excellent.
No reply in this case may be more due to our lack of understanding of this very interesting award.

I now have two, one courtesy of Mike Kenny very recently, I know there are quite a few variations. I would like to get them all.

                    Mini with pin - rare
"big" one - not so rare (in germany)

I mentioned earlier that I would post the medal bar that came with this group.
Well, I found it and here it is.
Apparently the original owner was tough on his decorations. The Hessian medal on the bar shows evidence of also being repaired. As they say...it is what it is.
This is the whole group as it came to me.
                      Enjoy!

As I was looking this group over I realized that I don't have an idea of what it is worth these days.
It was mentioned above that the document is rare as is the mini. What would be the values of these items today?
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

It is a fine grouping, wish I owned it.
