    Hessen Honor badge grouping....

    Hi guys....
Dug this out of my stash recently. What can be said about it?
I know both badges were repaired, that's how the set came to me along with the document, stick pin and the two lapel ribbons. One of the lapel ribbons is later as it has the Hindenburg ribbon.
Any info or comments welcome. Rare? Not rare?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tony

Very nice grouping. The guy had to be a stud to get the Iron Warrior.

              Thanks Don. I appreciate that.
I need to learn more about this award.

You had to be a really tough nut to get one of these. A much more significant award than the EKI. The stickpin is quite scarce. You hardly ever see them. The doc is very nice too.

If you haven't seen this before, here's a link with good basic information.

                  Hi,

Basically it is time at the front. It is an old sweat badge so difficult to compare to a Bravery award like an Iron Cross 1st class.

I was really happy to get a small group with one, unfortunately missing the document which is way rarer than the award, (Nice doc! I am jealous!)

                  A much underated badge.

                  Best
                  Chris

                    Nice ones Tony!
I have a feeling that all of the men who were awarded this award deserved it, when it required blood, bravey and nerves of steel to survive 2 years without a breakdown at the frontline.
The award document is in my opinion the highlight!

I am not sure how correct the info is that a soldier had to be wounded. I handeled a group not so long ago to a man who served in the infantry throughout the war, was awarded this, but there is no wound entry in the Militärpass, or break in service.

I would be interested in seeing the original statute for the award.

I've looked for the document for years. They are rarely available. I love the stickpin too. Nice set!

Thanks to all for the great comments and the impressive info.
My notes say that I also have a medal bar to match the lapel pin with the swods. Now I just need to keep digging in the 'old pile' to find that. I will post it when I find it.
                          Thanks again for your help.
I knew it was scarce but with roughly 2000 awarded that's more like rare.
                          All the best.

                            Great grouping Tony.
I think this is the first time I have ever seen the miniature for this award.

                              Thanks Greg.
I know you're seriously into the minatures. To hear you say this might be the first one you've seen speaks volumes.

We on for the Bears/Packers as before?

                              All the best.
