There are some fairly common place "associations" out there between the colors of fabrics on medal / ribbon bar backings and the various military branches.
Navy blue = navy.
Black = navy.
Red = army.
Gray = army.
Brown = uniformed NSDAP.
Pink = firefighters.
I'm curious to hear any other associations (or corrections to the above) that anyone else out there in forumland might be aware of.
...and of course, the million dollar question:
