    1914 EK2 non-combattant ribbon observations

Below are pictures of two EK2 ribbons that I have. I believe that both are original. They have passed the black light test. The one on the left has a more softer, silker feel. What is of interest is the construction method. I did a very close up scan the the one on the left has seems to be made with some type of cross threads while the one on the right seems to be a standard weave. I don't know what to make of it, but the ribbon on the left with the cross stitch method is very interesting. Maybe it is 1870 construction rather then 1914. Opinions are welcomed.

        Paul,
How are the ends constructed? Scalloped?

Marc, If you mean the sides of the ribbon the one with the cross stitching is not scalloped. It has a thread that hold the edge together. The left to right weave does have a scallope.

I'm very sorry I can't help You with ribbons construction method.
But I have ribbon with a strange wides of stripes.
And I don't know is it ribbon from non-combatant EK or no?
I think the construction method like on your right ribbon.
            Thank You!

Alex, Wht you have is a 1914 EK2 second class that looks to be marked 800. That is a silver content marking that indicates the frame is 80% silver. I ribbon is a non-combattant ribbon. Both look good to me.
