    Silver Ring

I saw this silver ring marked with an Ek stamp and the dates 1914-1916.
Does these crosses really were issued in those dates and why the dates are 1914-1916, should they have a meaning ?
    Thanks for any information.
    Alf.

If original, that ring is a patriotic item. They sometimes have the inscription 1914 / 1915 also. I suppose it had to do with the time frame when it was bought. Not related with the actual award of iron crosses. Cheers,

My opinion is it is a PP ring purchased around 1916....I have one similar with a second class cross on the front with the ribbon open and the medal hanging from it...also enameled...this one is a real nice one...congratulations if it's yours...the guy who purchased it may have won the cross and got a ring to wear to remember it....it also could have been purchased post war....but whichever...this one has been well cared for .

Thank You all for your information which is much appreciated.
I noticed that all ( about 5 ) I saw all were with the date 1914-1916, that is why I thought that there is meaning to this date.

Any way I think it would be nice along my Iron Cross collection>

They are mostly dated 14/15 or 15/16 as it was believed by the public that the Great War would be over by Christmas 1915.

thank you for your information which I believe you are right, they even thought that it would end before Christmas . But the date issue was getting on my nerves to know why it was like that, but you got the answer. Thanks
