Gentlemen,
I'd like to remind you on this absolutely rare opportunity to purchase
a superior award type EK I - 1870 !!!
this 'Original 1870 EK1 by J. Wagner, the only known manufacturer of official, award-type 1870 EK1s.
The cross is in superb condition with correct textbook maker's and silver marks on the center of the reverse.
The frame on this example is the typical Wagner early award-type frame and the core is a Type "A1" -- by far the most beautiful of the 1870 cores. Cast iron with the detailed and famously high relief crown design found on the 1870 Grand Cross series, crisp "W" cypher and date numerals. No cracks, near perfect original blackening.
The pin of the second Wagner type, wider and swollen with a block hinge. This design was likely adopted to correct the constant breakage of the first bent needle-pin design.
For 1870 EK1s, they don't get much better than this !
