My new 2-Place Medal Bar: EK2 + Zahringer Lowen Ritterkreuz 2.Klasse

    Hello,

I'm plugging away at my Junior Officer collection of Imperial German State Award Equivalents to the EK2. It will be a good challenge to find these in the 2-place medal bars whenever I am able to do so.

I recently acquired this pair for a Baden Junior Officer. This one has been on my "want list" for a along time, and I'm happy with the condition of the Baden award.

I look forward to your comments.

    Best Regards,

    Alan

Very nice 2 place bar Alan
I really like how you are collecting these. I'm sure that finding all of them may be
a bit of a challange but displaying the Ek2 with it's equivalent is a very novel idea.

Very nice bar. The BOX is one of the most beautiful Imperial awards.

Apart from the obvious beauty of this order (and the Saxe Errnistine in your other post), I should think it is quite difficult to find any EKII + Knight II/Kl4 Order pair as a stand-alone.

So, an extra congratulations for this approach and the amount of work that goes into hunting for these. It's a great idea and over time will become an awesome and unique display. It would be fantastic to see these pairs all together in one large image, some day, if you get a chance.

As an aside, the Zahringen Lion order has always been my favorite. Back in the days when I collected imperial, it was one of my main focuses. Every time I see one, I get an urge to start collecting them again. Yours is outstanding.

I think this is one of the nicest, if not the nicest, combos of awards on a two-place bar. The Baden OZL is just great.

Now you'll have to get a non-com combo

I agree with this statement. How can any Imperial German order collection not have OZL in it -but that is just my opinion.

This is a great pair as well. Captain rank or above I believe.

Thanks Greg! You are right, it will be a lot harder finding these in the 2-place medal bars, instead of the more commonly found 3-place medal bars that include the 1934 "Hindenburg Cross", or even just as loose individual awards. Several of these Junior Officer equivalents of the EK2 are significantly more expensive than the Enlisted Man equivalents of the EK2, and that will also take me longer to complete a set. Some of these will be quite difficult to find in 2-place (let alone as stand-alone individual awards), and will take a lot of patience to stay focused, which is a good thing for me. I simply like too many aspects of Imperial German militaria for my own good and pocketbook.

Thanks Brian! You're absolutely correct. It's going to be a good challenge trying to find some of these Knight II/Kl4 Order pair as a stand-alone. The norm that I see is either the EK2 + Knight + "Hindenburg Cross" which unfortunately doesn't appeal to me, or other combinations of EK2 + Knight + other state awards + long service + a civil or military 3rd Reich piece or two for continued service.

Brian R: That is a truly beautiful non-combat pair you have! Congratulations, and thank you for sharing it with us!

                  Best Regards,

This is a very nice 2 piece medalbar. Congratulationsfor the great find.
I really like the Zahringer Lowen Ritterkreuz 2.Klasse by its looks.
What exactly was it awarded for?

                    Best regards,
                    Daniel
