I don't know what to make of it. The core looks like a pretty rough
version of a typical type A core but it looks to be made from Tombac or
    some other non-ferrous material.

I have never seen an original 1870 with a frame like this one.

Definitely looks like a WWII-era Deschler to me. Probably a display piece. Quite interesting.

Have you seen like this before? Could Deshler to produce such a cross? Or is it a result of repair?

I wonder where these ugly ones come from .

I think being at Gard for a fake or cast copy would be in place

Your judgment refers to both crosses?

the thread starter fore sure ,,

the one on e medal I would certainly be careful about ..

not that the possibility of 1920/1939 versions of the 1870 is is unknown .
I had some advertisement of them .

but stay on Gard if you find them

                regards kay

Never seen one before but to me it seems perfectly likely that Deschler produced this in WWII as a display piece. Looks legitimate to me (although I don't think the frames are 900 silver).

how old was supposed to be a gentleman, when I was made this cross (my thoughts)? .... even if this cross was made officially at the end of the thirties

Since Deschler introduced this frame no earlier than 1940, any recipient would have to be close to 90. However I doubt this was made for recipients, but rather for display in a museum or a window or similar.
                        Best regards,

Trevor what is your opinion about this cross? Like a frame on early products of Deshler?

It is not excluded that so ... It would be great if someone showed similar....

Very interesting idea, because the shapes are very similar. But I don't think the frames are a match after a comparison.
