    Insignia Help please

    My reference books only show collar and shoulder insignia.Anyone tell me what this patch relates to please?

      Hi Andy,

      The patch (which was authorized in 1907) represents the Fernsprech-Abteilung Nr.40, which according to British intelligence, belonged to the 40th Division.

      Originally, the insignia consisted of a red patch with yellow "F" and Arabic army corps number beneath. In late 1915 it was changed to light gray with red "F" and Arabic number. By that time the number could stand for the corps or the division to which the detachment was attached.

      Here is my example below on the right side.
