Germen WWI buckle ?

Hi guy here is this buckle i found at the flea market last weekend...
Seems to be WWI but what branch of service ?

It's a Prussian Telegrapher's buckle

[Chip M]

Used by telephone troops to run communications wire. The Aufspuler was attached to this buckle. The "feet" of the wire spool frame went into the slots on the ends.

The paint on this example is somewhat odd and not the normal feldgrau that you would expect to see. There are some reproductions of this pattern, but I am not familiar enough with them to make any helpful comments.
