    Ribbon bar help?

    Hello all.

I recently got these ribbon bars in a lot, and I have no experience with imperial medals? Can anyone help me with these? Which medals would these ribbons represent? I recognize EK2 1914 and Ehrenkreuz für frontkämpfer

    Thanks in advance

Why? I'm just suggesting that doing one's own research is often not difficult and can lead to new additional knowledge. The internet has actually made this a lot easier. In the old days, we had to read several books and often cross-reference to find answers.

My complaint aired elsewhere is that this forum often decends into repeated questions of "What is this?" and "Is this real?" on quite mundane items, when a little bit of research can yield the answer. I'm actually just expressing the opinion held by others, but not articulated.

I'm a university professor. So research and digging for the truth is what I do. So, naturally, I expect others to do it, too.

GMIC is much better than this forum at providing real information and history behind items posted. In contrast, WAF is often nothing more than a beauty pageant.

But, as you and others might be sensitive to such comments, I will refrain from making them in the future.

bolewts58: I did find your comment a bit harsh, but I did not feel like commenting any further.

As stated, I really appreciate the help! And I did try to google, but this is my first time researching imperial ribbons. As you wrote yourself, some of the medals are Prussian, some from Saxony etc. and it can get a bit confusing. I mainly collect Third Reich documents, and when trying to research the bars myself I did get some things mixed up, compared to your answer. The two blue ribbons on the top one for instance, I did believe to be Third Reich civil service awards, with missing parts.

I will probably pass these on to another collector, and I do not want to give the wrong information on a subject on which I am not familiar. That was why I asked.

Understood and sorry if I was a bit harsh.

Obviously not your area. So, I should have been more forthcoming on what to search for. If you Googled "Imperial German Orders, Decorations and Medals Ribbon Chart", you'd find the information fairly easily. That's all I was suggesting. I didn't think the LS ribbons were TR as there was no indication that they ever had devices on them. I think they were likely for 12 and 9 years LS (Prussia).

My reaction was a bit of a personal beef of late about this forum, but shouldn't have been necessarily aimed at your specific question.

                No problem at all, bolewts58

Now that you gave me the specific phrase "Imperial German Orders, Decorations and Medals Ribbon Chart", I will be much better equipped to research these pieces in the future! I will make a note of that, thank you!
