    Generals boards (Waldersee part2)

    Hello All,

This tunic is proposed to belong to F.M. von Waldersee...... but I have an intersting question....

Could these boards have belonged to anyone else....

Gen Adj to Wilhelm I and rank of Gen. d (???).....

    Thoughts ??

    Cheers

    Mark,

indeed they could. In the 1900 Rangliste alone there are listed one Generaloberst and a further eight General der .... as former Adjutant Generals of Kaiser Wilhelm I.

      Hey Glenn,

Was a Gen Adj allowed to continue to wear the Wilhelm I cypher for the remnder of thier career ??

Or only while they were active in the position ??

So... these 8 General d. ??? ... did they hold this rank prior to 1888 or was this their rank in 1900 ??

      Cheers

        Mark,

as I understand the situation a former Generaladjutant to a deceased Monarch remained in the Army List and continued to wear the cipher of the deceased. The Generals in 1900 held the rank at that point. Without doing some further digging around I cannot say whether they were already full generals prior to 1888.

        Regards
        Glenn
