    Mecklenburg-Schwerin, FF War Cross 1914 1st. Class

    Hello,

I have been offered these 2 crosses and was wondering if I could get some opinions on them? The 1st class cross is very nicely vaulted and shinny...

    Regards,
    Christopher G.

IMO these are likely 1930s, 3rd Reich period. The hatched grain in the arms as opposed to pebbling on issue crosses, along with the "fire gilt" plating, a prevalent finish on many awards from the 1920s up to the 1940s, as well as the slightly larger size, wider frame and centre junction are typical of post 1918 private purchase versions of this award.

    I like them.

These are Zweistücke - private purchased.

If i am right, they were made by Godet & Son, Berlin.

I would have to ask Frank about it again.
