Imperial reservist flask and pins I.D.

Hi all,
My first post here. This seems to be the place for getting items identified. We had a visitor to our Museum bring in a collection brought home by her Father after WWII. They include two medals attached to each other, both pre-WWI. A reservist cavalry flask and a couple pins of unknown origin. Since I know next to nothing about Imperial German items, thought I'd call in the cavalry.

All of your items appear to be reservist memorabilia from the Jäger Regiment zu Pferde Nr.5 (J.z.P.5). The Jäger zu Pferde were a light cavalry unit, that sprung from the Meldereiter, which were the mounted couriers for the army corps.

I live in Missouri and I've never heard of your museum. Where is it?

Hi Chip,
Thank for the information, I was getting no where on them. The museum is in Jefferson City on the Ike Skelton Training Center/MONG HQ. We've been around since the late 1990's, but in a tiny space. We just moved into a renovated building with a ton more room. Look us up on Facebook if you're on there.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to drop by next time I'm out your way. I have served on the collections committee of the National WWI Museum in Kansas City.

Your flask predates WWI and would have been bought by the individual to commemorate his service time. The cap is missing its rider and the small shoulder strap insignia is also missing. The pins are for former members of this unit and could date anywhere from right after the soldier's service time up through post-WWII.

Hi Chip,

I was thinking there should be rider on the cap, but hadn't found another example like this online, only ones with an eagle on top.
