DEMAG Trench knife

Hi, mates !

Today I want to show you an Imperial German Armeedolch, (trench knife), made by DEUTSCHE MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. DUISBURG

The knife is heavilly used, but, it´s really pretty nice marked !

Upon one side of the blade the maker´s marked, upon the opposite side of the blade you can find D.R.G.M. (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster).

Upon the spine of the tang the acceptance mark´s hallmarked, (a crowned, gothic, B).

Most of such pattern trench knives are unmarked actually !

The measurements of the DEMAG:
overall lenght: 259 mm
blade lenght: 145 mm (tip slightly clinched)
width of the blade: 22 mm
thickness of the blade: 4 mm

Such pattern Armeedolche, designated as trench knives showing the "kitchen knife hilt", were made by several manufacturers, for example:

There´re also such pattern Armeedolche, only hallmarked with SOLINGEN upon one side of the blade.

As mentioned, it´s not that easy to find such knives, showing the maker.

Reibert, very nice collection and post! This is one of those categories of collecting (IMO) that has received much too little attention.

By many accounts the first (3) American soldiers KIA in WWI, were killed the first night in the line by a trench raiding/recon party and killed with these type of trench knives.

I love looking at these.
