A kind of Frankenstein for me...

I agree. Doesn't look like what I am used to seeing. The swords seem to be thinner and are flat on the reverse side. Also, the reverse of the MVK 2nd class does not have an enameled central disc. Kind of looks like its been pieced together like Frankenstein. IMO

I have seen this type of Swords in MVK's, which were made in the 20'sand 30's. But i have seen them only in MVK 3. Klasse and only in Ordensspangen.

I will try later to match the cross with the known Deschler, Lauer, Weiss, Hemmerle and Leser.

        Best Regards

        Antonio

This variation has been presented in the forum previously, and Rick Research was involved in the thread. I am not sure of the conclusion , but I think it was accepted as a custom piece, or as the way the manufacturer typically made his pieces. I had one with a similar reverse, also (years ago). When was the old thread written? Well, possibly (and I do mean possibly and not for sure) between 2003 and 2007. Sorry, I can't be more specific.
I wouldn't write your piece off yet, as it could an acceptable variation. Let's face it, a lot of variations happened because of class snobbery, or proud parents.
