A small five pointed silver star with the dates 1813 on the obverse and 1815 on the reverse. Known as the Dutch Star. Awarded after the Battle of Waterloo to those who survived the campaigns of 1813 to 1815. Not sure of the ribbon colours.
Hi Marc,
The medal that you have is called the Silver Cross 1813-1815 (Zilveren Kruis 1813-1815). It was established in May 1865 for the surviving members of the 1813-15 campaigns against Napolean. The full size version should measure around 35mm, a miniature version exists around 16mm. The ribbon for this medal is yellow-orange (Nassau orange) with a white stripe on each end.
Very nice medal. If you ever wish to part with it please let me know. One of the Dutch 19th century medals I never managed to pick up.
