Navy Ribbon Bar; a challenge for Rick!

    Hi,

here is a small German Navy ribbon bar from a friends collection.
    It has:

    - Red Eagle Order 4th class with crown on war ribbon
    - Long Service cross
    - Centenary medal
    - Mecklenburg Order of the Griffon knight with crown.

What do You think, can that combination exist? If yes, who was it?

    Best regards

    Daniel

I looked in 1914 and 1905 and found no one who matched in either year.

This little style seems to have been worn on the "monkey" dinner jacket BEFORE the war (I can find no closer evidence of an authorization date)--

    my best interpretation would be:

    1) this was an ADMIRAL (peacetime Red Eagle and Crown Orders "moved up" to neck grades, leaving this reduced medal bar)

    2) he was decorated for PRE-1900 colonial actions-- no China, no Southwest Africa, no Colonial Medal (yet).

I don't find any match in 1905, so retired before then?...

      Hi Rick,

Thats also my idea, Colonial award of the read eagle before the colonial medal was instituted. So this bar would have been worn before 1912. Or he got the red eagle for an action, where no colonial medal was authorized.
I have no idea how many red eagles 4th class with crown on war ribbon were awarded.

      Best regards

      Daniel
