German Glass Canteen

I picked up a WWI German glass canteen a couple months ago with the intentions of rebuilding it and using it for living history/reenacting. Since then I have found out that these things are incredibly hard to find (I hate the word rare) in any condition so plan A is out the window as I think it needs to be in a collection now. Would anyone have an idea on its value? No chips or cracks anywhere on it. Thanks in advance for any help!

I wonder why they would make canteens out of glass.... wouldn't they be prone to breakage or easily broken?

Glass canteens were very thick, but they were an Ersatz item, so not meant to last as long as regular issue items.

While this canteen could stand in for a German one, I don't believe it is German. I think it is WWII Russian. Every German one I have ever seen has a flat bottom with manufacturer initials.

Chip has pretty much summed it up correctly. The ones with rounded bottoms have been offered on e-auctions by Russian or Latvian vendors, and they have not been going for more than $30 US usually. I did see one with 1 cm cyrillic letters on the bottom ( a reverse "R" and "X"), so some were marked.

I have seen a flat-bottomed German glass canteen with 15mm high embossed "H 18" inset in a rimmed bottom.

I'm seeing closer to $100.
