    SUPER medal bar!

Here is a fabulous medal bar from a close friend's collection. Can you all name the awards??? And why is it so super? This medal group spans about half a century of service, from 1864 to at least 1901 and perhaps more.

Interesting medal bar. I am not good a identifying all of the medals to be sure if the combination is right or to be able to name the owner. We need Daves or Stogie's input.

What I really like is the EK. It shows the 1870 date with the short 7. It seems to me there was some discussion about the short 7 crosses so it is really nice to
see one on what appears to be a period medal bar.( cross might be a 1895 reissue for the Jubilee)

    Thanks for sharing,
    Greg

No Paddy, not Belgian. Indeed, it appears almost as if this is a feurwerks officer who rose from the ranks-or-a navy NCO who was promoted to Lt dR at the end of his long career @1905-and fought in the naval ground contingent in 1870. Note the lack of a crown Order or a REO4.

            Hey Guys,

What of the possibility of it being a General's bar.....

The lack of Crown or Red Eagle on the bar could be to the fact that they have gone to the neck !

I have a bar that is the same way....... and I have numerous pics of General's wearing such a bar..... and Brian S. has a family member with such a bar...

I like the bar a bunch

Cheers and thanks for posting it

              His decorations include:
1870 EK II with 25 year oak lead device; 25 year long service cross; 1870/71 Commemorative Medal made from captured brass cannon (Aus erobertem Geschütz) written on the rim; the medal also includes 5 campaign bars that were added in 1895/6 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the victory in France: "Spicheren", "Beaune la Rolande", "Gravelotte St. Privat", "Beaumont" and "Sedan". (The campaign bars are a little scattered all over the place.) 1866 "Königgrätz" Cross; 1864 Kriegdenkmünze in Brass; China Denkmünze in Steel, 1897 Centenary Medal (also made from captured, melted, French cannon); Saxon Duchies: Ernestine House Order Knight 2nd Class.
              Regards,
              Marc

I´m not sure if it will be enough to nail him down but I have a good feeling.

                    I have him!
Your guy was born in 1847, so took part in the 1864 campaign as 17 years young guy! Continued in the following campaigns and added loooong peacetime years. He retired in 1908, last Position Commander of the 12th Field Artillery Brigade. In WW1 he was not recalled. Decorations: Red Eagle 2nd class with oakleaves, Crown Order 2nd class with Star, Iron Cross 2nd class 1870/71, Prussian XXV long service cross, Ernestinian House Order knight 2nd class; of course the fitting Campaign awards and for some merits at hoime in connection with the Boxer rebellion he received the China medal in steel.
He was promoted MajGen 16.03.1905 and was charakterized LtGen on his retirement 21.03.1908.
His name: Georg Müller. (boring eh? Not even a “von”)

                    Best regards
