    Friedrich-Kreuz, Steckkreuz (Anhalt)

    Dear fellow collectors:

I consulted the "Deutschland-Katalog 2001/2000, Orden & Ehrenzeichen, Jörg Nimmergut" and the above-mentioned medal is described as "unofficial". Somebody can tell me more about this medal? Was it given just to officers? How many have been given? How rare is this medal?

...sorry the many questions, but I don't have the "Handbücher" of Nimmergut handy...

I thank you very much in advance for your kind replies.

    mit besten Sammlergrüssen!

    Claudio

Ah, these questions don't have answers...

these pieces have been around for a long time, but were NOT official. So no statistics... because they did not "exist" officially.

Hi Claudio, it is not a shame to have the Nimmergut books not handy. (Nimmergut means in German "Never good" he, he, nomen est omen)

In the very good Anhalt book (Die Orden und Ehrenzeichen der Anhaltischen Staaten) from Dr. Scharffenberg this cross is also mentioned. It was planned, but never instituted and so never awarded. It might be sure, that some examples were made to get the approval of the Duke, but the war finished too soon to realize this projekt. Most of the crosses now on the market are simple fakes.

      Best regards

      Daniel

        Official, but....

.... never produced, or awarded. I've seen this one offered as a prototype, with that description. Possibly even once by Detlev Niemann.
