    Kyffhauser Bund medal question

I recently found a Kyffhauser Bund medal in a local dealership which appears unusual, at least to me. It has a separate piece of ribbon attached at 90% to the normal ribbon such as is sometimes seen on Hungarian awards, to which the swords are attached pointing downward. There is a pin fitting on the back for wear, but it is not court mounted as such. The medal itself seems to have been fire guided with a good quality gold finish to both sides. I have tried looking for a similar one online but can't find one, the main problem being that there a seem to be several different spellings of Kyffhauser which makes it difficult. Does anyone here have a similar type?

I've heard that before but I've never seen any real evidence for it. Same thing with mounting an EK2 backwards on a bar.
Not doubting the claim, but just out of curiosity: does anyone have any evidence for these theories?
