    Binoculars help

    These are marked Dienstglas, I am considering purchasing. What is the value, who used these?

      Hi Richard, here is the information the seller provided.

      The round thing in the center reads: Fernglas 08127003 Emif Busch A G Rothonox (? - a little hard to read). There is a number after the Dienstglas that reads: No 127093. Another marking appears to read 1X.17. There are two small areas of paint loss on the sides near the large lenses.

        I think these are call 08's for short of the date made .

        Small officer bino's . The last pair I saw sell with case was approx. $185.00.

        A few years back no one wanted these..

          These issue glasses were carried by many NCOs as well, depending on their job within the unit. For instance, every machine gun crew NCO had a pair. As you may have guessed, the X.17 is the month and year of manufacture, that is, October 1917. These are common and in my experience sell for $150.00 or less with the case, maybe more if the case is some unusual Ersatz pattern.
