Hello,
i recently acquire these two photos from the "Grießheimer Sand". The August-Euler-Flugplatz aka. Darmstadt Army Airfield or Griesheim (Army) Airfield is part of the Grießheimer Sand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griesheim_Airport
The first photo show a few guys from the IR. 116. It´s a "Budenzauber" picture.
On the board is written: "Kurgäste zur Entfettungskur auf dem Grießheimer Sand 1914" which means: "spa guests for fat-reducing diet on the Grießheimer Sand 1914".
The second one shows the 15. Korporalschaft of the 3. Komp. 2. Ersatz Battalion IR. 116 in 1916 also on the Grießheimer Sand.
In the first photo the black guy is left from the board.
In the second one he is standing in the last row, third from right.
There are a few more guys which are on both pictures.
I have seen a few black guys on "Kaiserreich" pictures. Some came from the colonies, as a Adjudant for a officer. Like Elo (Wilhelm) Sambo, the most knowns black guy in the german Kaisserreich army. http://www.der-chronist.de/husaren.html
Others, with better family background, came for (military) education. I saw one picture of a son of a asian aristocrat.
The fake Werwolf Medal is only for copy protection.
Grüße
René
