Oh crap! Sorry about the lazy view. Maybe someone can re-orient the pics correctly. Thanks!

From what period? Not the usual device to attach oak leaves, is it? Looks awesome.

            Hi Tiger 1,

Beautiful member of the Rothe family, it would seem, but a very unusual suspension....
Got any sense of the metal content?

Would be nice to get Elmar Lang's opinion on it

            Prost!

one thing i cant understand ,,

wy not do you're out most best,,

to photograph such a wonderful item in the most wonderful settings and backgrounds .

Instead of lighting it with hospital light in flat positions on a operation table .

even you're pedicured toe had a nicer photographic setting as this rich character pour le merite.

              regards kay

                Tony,
What's the story to go with this piece?

Sorry for the poor images....these are pics of photos I took a while back.

This set was found at an antique show in New Orleans. I had a shot at acquiring this PLM but at the time I was a bit more than short on the asking price. Just couldn't swing the deal any which way and only have the photos to show for my efforts.

Time period... I do not know for certain. I understand that the round front case is the original presentation case. The three stripe ribbon is also correct for the oakleaves device. The oakleaves are a bit funky but apparently were contemporary to the time frame and not a much later attachment. Speculation on my part here but I haven't seen anything like them since.

I remember the piece being silver gilt and was marked J.G. u S .

I will try to dig up some notes I took back then for more info.
