"KO" is a makers mark, which is one of the most common (the most common?) maker marks on 1914 Ek's. The KO Ek's have differents setups, some crosses looks like mixups of different frames, cores, pins and hinges.

"KO" stands for Königliches Münzamt Orden, Berlin.

          For all makers see: http://www.kaisersbunker.com/stuff/1914_EK2_makers.htm

          Regards,
          Marc
