Mecklenburg Schwerin military merit cross 1st-class

I am interested in this medal. It looks good to me but I have heard many fakes exist.

    Can anyone offer some opinions?

Imo a genuine example but more than likely dating from the 30s, possibly 20s, based on the hardware. Almost certainly not an award piece.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

The cross-hatching style of grain instead of the normal pebbled surface dates this from the 1930s or even 1940s. They were usually fire-gilded on the highlights and the outer rim.

Considering the condition and the fact that it's post-war, it's not worth anywhere near $375 USD. You could get a WWI period one for a lot less.

I agree the emedals piece is a 20/30 years production. The piece from Rich is a nice awarded type piece from Zimmermann with the half moon plate at the top of the pin.

          Regards

This is the typical award piece:

Bought this one as a "field issued/modified" version. I like it more than the 30's issue.

                Hi

this cross was an uncommon replacement for a second class. If you like why not.

                Regards
                Kai

                  It's a funny piece from the 20's.
As untouched 2nd class is quite rare...

Would the requirements apply to these crosses like the EK's? must be awarded the second class cross before being qualified to be awarded the 1st class cross?
