These are not WWI era, but a late 1930s series done by Hitler darling, early SA storm-trooper and fanatical Nazi artist Wilhelm Emil (Elk) Eber (1892-1941). He adopted the Indian name "Elk" because he was in love with cowboys and Indians, belonged to the Munich Cowboy Club, corresponded frequently with members of the Sioux tribe and is famous in the US for painting one of the iconic (but inaccurate) paintings of Custer's Last Stand (1929). It's still used by the US Park Service at the Battlefield Museum.Last edited by Brian L.; 10-26-2014, 07:34 PM.

Hello, nice set of cards. I have a set of 6 unused cards from 1916 showing soldiers at the front during winter snows. As for your cards I guess things got grimmer by 1918, not the peaceful snowy cards. My set does have a message for the wife of the soldier that sent them. Guess for some reason they were never used.Attached Files

Please read my post below. The Elk Eber cards are not WW1. They are Nazi propaganda cards. Eber was also famous for painting SA storm-troopers. Attached is an example. Hitler loved him and bought several of his paintings, drawings and prints.Attached FilesLast edited by Brian L.; 10-26-2014, 07:46 PM.
