Got this tonight - what was it attached to?

i scanned it next to a 1 cent coin - ITS TINY!!

On their own, not worth much at all but no idea of the precise value (10 Euros maybe..although I am sure others will correct me). Here is an example of the kind of chain George is refering to. If you do a search in this part of the forum, you may see a few more.

Yes, Mike and Terry are right. They were attached either on a mini-chain or on a mini medal bar like this one:
