    My dad found this medallion

    Hello everybody

So my dad found this medallion under a gutter.

After checking google for hours and hours with no result i went to my local museum who couldn't tell me anything useful about it, here i am in a desperate attempt to find anybody who knows something about this medallion.

The medallion is about 4 centimeter in diameter and is bronze (according to my local museum).
On one side it shows Reichskanzler Otto von Bismarck with the text Reichskanzer furst v. Bismarck, on the other side it says ''wir deutsche fürchten gott aber sonst nichts in der welt''.

What i would like to know is what this medallion was used/awarded for and in what timeperiod it was made. (there is no date or year anywhere to be found on the medallion itself)

    Thanks in advance

    medaillion

Obviously made after 1871 and it appears to merely be a souvenir medallion anyone could purchase. I think the statement on the reverse is an ultra-nationalistic quote of Bismarcks. It is not a military item.

Front says Imperial Chancellor Prince Bismarck. Reverse is his second most famous quote, "We Germans fear God, but nothing else in the world." It's a patriotic item celebrating Bismarck in general, one of hundreds of such items minted after unification in 1871. I can't say exactly when or where it was made.

I agree with Streptile, patriotic souvenir medal. Nice though, I wouldn't mind finding one.
