Imperial medal bar and boxed EK_1

    Hello all,

I picked up this grouping and just wanted to make sure there is nothing wrong with these. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I am not an Imperial collector, thank you!

Looks like a nice Prussian medal bar from 1920-33ish. The award order is a little strange but the owner may have been making a statement.

The rest is good as well.

I don't know what you mean and I'm not trying to be a smartass, but what statement is in your theory? Is the order of the stickpin more appropriate?

            Hi William,

the two on the right are also ek equivalents from states. The 3rd from the left is a veteran thing, so that should be all the way up right. I guess that the service medal should also be after the states awards, but don't pin me on that one...

The stick pin is from a later date, as it has the Hindy, and yes that order seems more appropriate.

            Best regards,
            Michel

thanks guys. So basically the EK's are more important than the service medal, makes sense.

It's quite simple William. The owner was a Prussian first and foremost. He built his bar to reflect that, placing those awards from "lesser" states at the end as foreign awards. The sticking shows the proper order and ties the EK1 to the group as well.

You see the same with Saxon and Bavarian bars. They put their State's award ahead of the Prussian EK.

Too bad it's been split up and listed on eBay.

                      Seriously? VERY disappointing.

I hope the original poster wasn't the culprit... can you please post the ebay #?

nothing wrong with this. The medal bar & stickpin are staying together. I have no way of knowing if the EK_1 was from the guy that wore the medal bar as these were purchased at an Estate sale of a collector. Was told it all was found together when they were cleaning out the basement.

All of these fakes were at the same Estate with the bar & EK_1 as well, so it isn't like I'm splitting up a named grouping because I listed the EK_1 separate from the medal bar & stickpin combo!

                            I agree.

I have no way of knowing if the EK_1 was from the guy that wore the medal bar as these were purchased at an Estate sale of a collector. Was told it all was found together when they were cleaning out the basement.
From what my eyes see of the stickpin, there is an EK1 on the stickpin, and an EK2 on it as well. As to whether this particular Cased EK1 was his, we can probably logically presume it was his if the oral history from the previous collector that you got this from says it all came together....

Even though we don't know who the German soldier was, it is unfortunate that the grouping will most likely be sold to two or more separate buyers after it has been together for approximately 100 years.

Why not save the stinking eBay fees of 15%, William, and start the group at say $600, $700, or more, whatever you want to start it at, with some help/advice of your fellow forum members by placing it on e-stand? You can always start it high on e-stand, and go down. Bottom line is at least you would keep the group together, and do yourself the favor of saving 15% eBay fees by selling it to a forum member.

so should I rip the WW1 gold donation medallion away and keep that as part of this "grouping" as well because the items came from the son-in-law of a collector? He told me it all came back together but I seriously doubt that bullion oval pilot's badge was with the medal bar for nearly 100 years.....
