An Astounding eBay Aviation Find!

My usual scrounging didn't come up dry for once! A (non-military) seller had this beautiful case listed as a "Navy Case".... they also had a TWM listed. Some fast & furious emails later, not only was the set saved from being scattered to the winds, it was in my hot little hands! So, don't let it be said, you only find trash on eBay... sometimes, you really get lucky!

Hi Rick, Very nice group! What is your opinion on the case decoration? The Imperial crown and ribbon are usually associated with naval service and the badge is army. I can see why the seller listed it as a navy case. Any thoughts?

The crown device....

Hi Bobby, that might be true, but this device is also seen/used extensively on simple picture frames, with no Navy connection at all.
When the case arrived, i was quite surprised as the impression of the badge is clearly "duckfeet", NOT a Naval ribbon.
