I found one for sale in an antique store with an enamaled cross(seems to be some sort of medic's medal because it has a red cross in the center. It has same ribbon...white with red "ladder") for about 200. Is that fair?

Not sure what you mean by red cross. If you mean the actual Red Cross red cross, then it's probably a class of the Austrian Red Cross Merit Decoration (Österreichisches Ehrenzeichen für Verdienst um das Rote Kreuz). That decoration did not come on the Bravery Medal ribbon, but a white ribbon with two red stripes near each edge. The value depends on which class. Here is one from Bert's Sammlerecke in Austria (you can also check his catalog to get an idea of which type and what might be a good retail price):

Austrian Officer ID from a Medal Bar?

I have been amazed at the amount of German medal braces that have been identified through the efforts of forum members. I was wondering if anyone has this type of research or can point me in the direction to look for an Austrian Officer who was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, along with numerous Austrian bravery medals and also two Turkish bravery medals? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I finally got my scanner working again, so here is the bar. One of the laurel branches for the war decoration of the Iron Crown appears to have broken off, possibly from banging against the Large Gold Bravery Medal. It's been replaced with a branch from something else.

Wow, Dave. Fantastic Medalbar! I like the Order of the Iron Crown a lot. Its a gilt bronze version, isn´t it?

Also the Austrian Red Cross Decorations are beautiful.

Not to give away too much of the secrets of people like Werner and Rick, but finding German recipients is mainly a function of checking the military ranklists, which usually show the awards officers receive. It is actually a far more involved process of logic and analysis, but the ranklists are the basic facts you need. For Germans, the advantage was all of the different states, which made for so many unique combinations. But if, for example, you had an officer with only the main Prussian decorations - Iron Cross, Hohenzollern House Order, maybe a prewar Crown Order 4th Class - and possibly one of the more common state awards like the Bavarian MVO, it would be almost impossible to narrow down who it was.

For Austrians, you don't have all of the information you need. You don't have the myriad state awards as you do for Germany, and the most common foreign awards, like the Iron Cross and the various Ottoman awards, were just too common to create unique combinations.

Glenn or one of the other Austrian experts might have a better answer, though.
