EK cigarette case

This one just came in which seems to have a genuine ek2 mounted- haven't seen one like this previously, does the ek look ok?

Hi Patrick,

the ek looks ok. Someone went to a lot of trouble mounting that thing. The one thing I find odd is that the ek doesn't fit perfectly on the front, however that could be explained by usage. Nice display piece.

Thanks Michel, The case itself would appear to be a mass produced stamped brass item so I think the maker has taken the standard ek2 size to make the cutout.

This must have been done after the demise of Prussia as otherwise would have been illegal- so I guess probably made in the 1930's for veterans from left over stocks of original crosses.

Of interest is that the cross has had an 800 stamp added after the loop was removed (which may have had the silver stamp) which would be a required stamp if retailed and the frame being of genuine silver.

Not the best quality item but I'm sure you would have looked pretty damn handsome whipping this out in a bar on the Reeperbahn in the mid 30's
