thank you streptile fore the pictures and explanation ,,
that copy is a cunning result of a good copier

only the text of Wernits book under the picture states
that the pin has probably being replaced and its also not made from silver . (raising my eyebrow mediately )

    second
I thought I am familiar with all pin's for the Wagner crosses of 1870 ..(so far )
this one was not the one I seen used by Wagner until Wernits book.( and on the fake )

therefor I figured it must be a fake pin replacement.
    can you follow me ??

    regards kay

Yes, I follow you. And you may be correct because really we are both guessing at the answer.

        tja ,

I don't know if Guessing is the right word to what we are doing .
so far we have not guest but have real items who show...........

a unknown Wagner ( non silver) replacement pin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, on a original silver content marked cross.
an the equal to that pin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,on a known fake .

Hmmmmm ,,,,,,that is no guess ,,,,,that is a very good reason to investigate deeper in to it .

        regards kay

Looks like 2-Different Individuals got suckered into buying both pieces.

I'm guessing that greed got the better of both buyers, thinking they were getting rare "bargains". $1,200.00 and $1,500.00 Respectively. That's a lot of money for junk. I wonder how long it will be before the buyers realize their mistakes?

          Best Regards,

          Alan

well ,,you dont know if the dealer itself and its friends took care of that price ..

knowing the ebay habits,,,,its a smelly deal .

            Second ,,,,

After reading throe what we here discussed ,,,
the ebay Wagner is a 100% proven fake .

the Wagner in Wernitzes book is a no go for sure ,,until farther research is revealed.
As the pin can not be identified and cataloged as original Wagner pin

these conclusions are not based on guesses .

they are money preserving percussion .

            regards kay

Looking at the page's scan from the book, it's clearly pointed out that the pin on Kaiser Wilhelm's EK-I was changed.
