    Prinzen ek1

a while ago i fell in love with a Maybauer Prinzen EK1.
But it wasnt true love since it came out very soon that the bit* was a fake.

Since then i keep looking to find a true one.
So far i have to admit what the comunity knows: they are scarce. Therfore i sometimes buy a nice Prinzen one, even if ist not a Maybauer.

Now the cuestion. I found this alleged Prinzen EK1. Anyone can tell, based on these pics if this could be a good one? I only know that the box is a good one.

I agree, a nice original, but it does not belong in that case.

                Here are the pics.
The cross measures 33mm and the box, wich imo does not belong originaly to it measures 50mm (sides). On the last pics you see it displayed next to a Zimmermann Prinzen-EK2 in a similar box but it measures 60mm (sides).

The maker mark Looks curious to me, because the "T" at the end of GODET ist slightly distanced.

What a great treat to have some many good photos of this cross

Don't worry about the GODET mark. Both it and the [800] mark are 100% correct, period marks. The mark and the cross are definitely from the interwar period; I'd guess about 1925-1935 based on the marks used.

The very big makers in the private purchase market (AWS, Godet) usually made two sizes of Prinzens -- ca. 35mm and ca. 27mm. So the case may be for a smaller size Prinzen, even if it did not come with this exact Prinzen (which I agree it did not -- since Weitze sold this cross without a case).

Thanks again for the very nice pictures.
                  Best regards,
                  Streptile

                    Hi there Streptile,
a cuestion about your Statement it was sold by Weitze.
I saw the pic with the Weitze logo and agree: ist the very same cross. When was it sold ? You remember it? And do you remember the Price?
I couldnt let it be, at the Price i got it. Not a bargain but a veery nice Price.

I believe Weitze sold the cross for €650, without the case.
                      Best regards,
