No spokes in the second wheel, tread very carefully ! Whenever a Bavarian pilot badge shows up it is always (or nearly ) one of these. Given the very small quantity of Bavarian pilots it does not square up. These are much to plentiful to be credible to my mind. It may be that a small minority of these pieces are 20's or 30's period post war examples but it's a long shot. These are seen in several formats ,like this one or often in silver with rayed back plate. They often change hands for good money and so reinforcing the would be collectors to thinking they are genuine. They are dubious at best ,if you are not sure or experienced in this field of collecting then steer clear of this type of badge. They can be very convincing ! Ferg

Maybe an attempt to make it look more convincing , many original badges have lost or had the cross removed .

But the details on these so called fakes are better than the so called real badges with Karl Pöllath, look at the steelwires on these and than on the so called real ones, on the so called real ones they are extremely thick, so un german made! and german badges are famous for their fine art! and the Sticks on the wings at the right side (z vorm) on the so called real ones the middle stick goes in front of the wing and is not under broken, so this plane could never fly with the stick in front of the wing!! . german made medals made not this mistake i think!! in these badges the stick is under broken so mutch realistic than the so called real ones,.

I have a pierced crown version of the first badge posted, with matching die flaws in the lower wreath.
