    Optical sight Howitzer help

    Hi Guys

I have an optical sight unit for a German Howitzer. It has the inscription “Rbl.F.16” which I have been told stands for “Rundblickfernrohr 1916”. Which is the type of sight used with numerous field artillery pieces of the time, principally the 7.7cm field gun and the 10.5cm cm field howitzer. I had it in my collection for just over a year, but its time it moved on as I’m concentrating on ww2 items.

Both the box and the sight are in good condition; even the leather padding inside is in amazing condition. I know it’s a bit of difficult question but dose any one know the rough value of this item? As im totally stumped, can’t find any info on the net what so ever about this sight, any one know of any good reference sights or dealers who have any for a reference ?

    Thanks guys

    Kind Regards

          Cheers

              Mauser,
Ironically, the Rblf 16 (and sometimes the 18) was also used in WW2 extensively by the Wehrmacht as the auxiliary indirect fire system scope for its Leichte and Schwere FeldHaubitz artillery pieces. The 16 was often mounted on an extension tube that allowed the optic to be elevated well above the armour shield for the better field of view. I wouldn't be so quick to remove it from my WW2 optics collection (if I had one - I just study the things ).
