You would not believe some of the stuff he has turned up in the American area: ie. Purple Heart for the charge up San Juan Hill 1898, D-Day Bronze Star, etc.

Fred, I am attaching pic of the reverse of the Vet medals as you requested. I also am showing the back of the official mounted group.

    Best to all,

Thanks Bobby, I've been keeping track of locally issued German vets medals for the wars of unification and the Ueberlingen one on the "V" shaped red ribbon is a new to me. The others are neat private purchase medals and it is interesting to see how the vets groups used them. The cross is generic so they put the unit id. on the ribbon. It is paired up with a medal for the golden jubilee of (Grand duke of Baden) Friedrich's reign which again is a private issue and it looks like the entire vets group bought one for each man and then put their insignia on the ribbon. The medal on the red and yellow ribbon is a monument dedication medal that the veterans group must have taken part in. Some time after that dedication he must have immigrated to the USA and remained active in the German vets groups here as indicated by the vice presidents convention badge. Makes me wonder what other local USA based German vets organization medals and badges he may have had. Thanks again for stirring my imagination, Fred

Thanks for the insights Fred, very interesting info on the group. The Vet items really help to follow a time line for the "Alte Krieger"

      Best,Bobby
